Fred GuardineerAdventure Comics #45 coverWow! I certainly never thought I would be able to acquire such a great piece from one of the pioneers of the Golden Age of comics! I personally feel this is one of the most important original comic covers that is still in existence. This is the only known cover with a drawing of the Original Sandman as created by Craig Flessel. While I do not know for sure, I believe the drawing at top, which is original was actually drawn by Flessel, and placed on this cover. The drawing is on a seperate piece of art board, that has been glued on to the main board. It also has the look of a Flessel drawn Sandman, and it would not make sense that if Guardineer were to have drawn it, he wouldn't have just done so on the same board. Since they both worked in the same studio, the piece being drawn by Flessel makes the most logical sense. No matter, if you wanted a Golden Age cover depicting the original version of the Sandman, this is the only one. Cover is complete with the original stat.
